2019 Harmonies for Hope Raises $10,236 for Canuck Place Children's Hospice

On May 20th, the 2019 Harmonies for Hope benefit concert was held at Unitarian Church at 5:30pm. This year's theme was literary and artistic diversity, and members were able to share their performances with the audience.

Tickets sold for $15 each, and early concertgoers had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for awesome prizes, such as tea sets, stuffed toys, and an iPad. All proceeds went towards Canuck Place Children's Hospice.

Featured guests included saxophonist Colin McDonald, singer Jessica Zraly, pianist Trevor Hoffmann, and singer Kevin Li. Kiwanis Vancouver advisor Allen Eckersley and Canuck Place Children's Hospice representative Nancy Myers were also in attendance.

The concert program was rich and diversified, meant to celebrate Western and traditional Chinese instrument performances. Talented musicians sang classical songs, played the piano, the oboe, the saxophone, the violin, and the guzheng. Harmonies for Hope was not simply just harmonies, rather, humour as well! Poetry recitations and speeches were performed by talented Key Clubbers, presenting a variety of programs.

As the amazing performances were happening, the team behind the scenes was counting all the donations made throughout the night. Key Club had raised 10,236 dollars!

Key Club Vancouver Westside President James Liang, Vice President Justin Lee, Editor Sophia Bu, Treasurer Jeremy Feng and Secretary Austin Lee, on behalf of the club members, donated the $10,236 raised to Canuck Place Children's Hospice.

Key Club thanks its 2019 Harmonies for Hope sponsors, including Steinway and Sons, Tom Lee, Opus Academy, Kiwanis International, and iFortune Homes.
